A cold is a viral infection marked
by runny nose or nasal congestion, sore throat, cough, or headache. Children
may also have fevers early in the illness. The fevers are usually low grade.
Colds are caused by many different types of virus and can occur year round,
although they are most frequent in the winter months.
6 illness comes in winter mostly :
1. Cold: 😷
The common
cold, also known simply as a cold, is a viral infectious disease of the upper
respiratory tract that primarily affects the nose. The throat, sinuses, and
larynx may also be affected. (Signs and symptoms) may appear less than
two days after exposure to the virus. These may include (coughing, sore
throat, runny nose, sneezing, headache, and fever.) People usually recover
in seven to ten days, but some symptoms may last up to three weeks.
Occasionally those with other health problems may develop pneumonia.
2. Asthma:
If you
frequently experience shortness of breath or you hear a whistling or wheezy
sound in your chest when you breathe, you may have asthma — a chronic condition
that causes inflammation and narrowing of the bronchial tubes, the passageways
that allow air to enter and leave the lungs. If people with asthma are exposed
to a substance to which they are sensitive or a situation that changes their
regular breathing patterns, the symptoms can become more severe.
Symptoms :
1. Coughing
2. Shortness
of breath
3. Chest
tightness
4. Wheezing
3. Joints
point: 👀
Any damage to the joints from disease or injury can interfere
with your movement and cause a lot of pain. Many different conditions can lead
to painful joints, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis,
gout, strains, sprains, and other injuries. Joint pain is extremely common.
Symptoms :
1. Shoulders
2. Hips
3. Elbows
4. Knees
4.Heart Attack : 💗
A heart
attack is the death of a segment of heart muscle caused by a loss of blood
supply. The blood is usually cut off when an artery supplying the heart muscle
is blocked by a blood clot.
Symptoms :
- coughing
- nausea
- vomiting
- crushing chest pain
- dizziness
- shortness of breath called dyspnea
- face seeming gray in color
- a feeling of terror that life is ending
- feeling awful, generally
- restlessness
- feeling clammy and sweaty
- shortness of breath
5. Dry skin :
Dry skin is
a very common skin condition characterized by a lack of the appropriate amount
of water in the most superficial layer of the skin, the epidermis. While dry
skin tends to affect males and females equally, older individuals are typically
much more prone to dry skin. The skin in elderly individuals tends to have
diminished amounts of natural skin oils and lubricants. Areas such as the arms,
hands, and particularly lower legs tend to be more affected by dry skin.
Environmental factors, such as humidity and temperature, have a profound effect
on the amount of water retained within the skin. For example, cold, dry air
when heated by a furnace will produce dry skin by evaporating moisture on the
skin. Frequent hand-washing and sanitizing causes evaporation and dryness. Dry
skin may also be a side effect of some medications as well as a byproduct of
certain skin diseases.
Symptoms :
- A feeling of skin tightness, especially after showering, bathing or swimming.
- Skin that feels and looks rough.
- Itching (pruritus)
- Slight to severe flaking, scaling or peeling.
- Fine lines or cracks.
- Gray, ashy skin.
- Redness.
- Deep cracks that may bleed.
6. Flu:
Flu, or
influenza, is a viral illness that occurs predominantly in the winter months in
South Africa. It is easily confused with the common cold, which is also a
winter viral illness, although caused by another virus.
Flu spreads
easily from person to person through droplet distribution when an infected
person coughs or sneezes or, quite commonly, through hand-to-hand contact.
Symptoms :
- High temperature
- Cold sweats and shivers
- Headache
- Aching joints and limbs
- Fatigue, feeling exhausted
